Agritourism In The Thousand Islands Region

The 1000 Islands Region has always been rich in farmland. Perhaps most noted for its family based dairy operations, the region produces an abundance of milk and cheese products. In late winter and early spring the region also produces the finest maple syrup in the world. In recent decades many industrious Amish families have settled in the area, offering their own flavor of traditions and values. Several area farms have expanded their operations to encompass tourism, giving visitors an opportunity to glimpse the farming way of life. Be sure to sample locally grown fruits and vegetables from numerous farmers markets. |
| How about some fine wine from a local winery. Some local farms allow you to "pick your own" berries or apples. A few farms or ranches even offer animal petting zoos or horse-drawn or tractor-drawn "hayrides" through their fields and meadows.
