The Wedding Department has been in business over 15 years where they hand craft unique clay wedding favors as ornaments and wind chimes. They have favors that are suited for seasonal and other themes such as seaside, fall, beach, butterflies and so on. They ship their unique wedding favors around the world from their studio in Theresa NY.

The Wedding Department started in 1997 when a bride from NYC saw their stoneware wind chimes and asked them if they could make a bit smaller and less expensive version to be used as wedding favors. After seeing them, other brides ordered them, and then they launched their website.

What is unique about The Wedding Department is their wedding favors are their original designs and they make them by hand in their local studio. Because they make them, special designs are available in any shape, color, or design.

After they lost their business in a fire at the Watertown Center for Business and Industry, they built a 2 story studio, 45 by 20, behind their home. Before the move, they were prohibited from allowing guests or customers to visit the shop, so after the fire, they built a studio where people could see them at work.

They have gardens and other art work including wood, clay, and steel sculpture.

Next year (2010) they are planning pottery parties where for a nominal fee visitors can make a pot on the wheel. They will glaze and fire the pot for them to keep.

Most visitors remember them most by the fact that they actually design and hand craft the products they sell.
