There are numerous private and publicly owned campgrounds in the 1000 Islands Region, featuring everything from rustic tenting areas to amenity-filled RV parks. Several state parks are located throughout the Thousand Islands Region, most offering camping facilities. While most of the campsites in the region are accessible by automobile, some of these areas are located on islands that are accessible only by boat. Campfires and outdoor cooking is permitted in some campgrounds, and not at all in other parks. Some camp fire restrictions may be temporary based on local conditions. If unsure, be sure to check with local authorities before starting a camp fire. Some camp sites are on trails located in areas densely covered with trees, and forest fire concerns may be an issue at certain times of the year.
